Oh my goodness! I have been looking forward to this wedding for a very long time… in fact, I’m sad it’s over!!! I want to go back! When I first chatted with Sara and Oliver, I felt like we instantly clicked. Then, there was an added bonus when I found out the bride Sara works with my best gal pal, Megan! Small world! Sara and Oliver planned a rustic wedding in gorgeous Lake Placid. Lake Placid holds a special place in my heart because every year my family would take long ski trip weekends to Whiteface… Then years later my sister celebrated her engagement in Lake Placid! Oh the memories! Some of my favorite places in town are The Cottage (a must when you’re in town!), The Brown Dog Cafe and Wine bar….and because I’m a girl-The Whiteface Lodge Spa (what a treat that place is!). Knowing that I would be spending a weekend in Lake Placid, not only with an amazing couple, but also with my vendor friends…well, it was pretty much destined to be the best weekend ever! And I have to say, it far exceeded my expectation.
I felt so lucky to have artist Evan Pierce along with me to help document Sara and Oliver’s wedding day. Leading up to the wedding weekend our text conversations were pretty epic. It consisted of a gazillion emojis, Mic drop memes, and pretty much everything in capital letters. So, um, yeah, we were excited!! We arrived the day before and attended the rehearsal that evening- it was pretty cool to see the run through before the actual wedding day. The weather wasn’t promising, but thankfully Katie O’ and her amazing team had several back up plans in place. After the rehearsal, we met up with the KOWE team over at The Cottage for a great lakeside dinner. Dinner and friends….my favorite!
The morning of the wedding, it was beautiful. Slightly overcast but I remained optimistic. Because the wedding was scheduled to be held on the beach, we had to check the weather frequently. By 3pm, the decision was made to move the ceremony inside. Let me tell you, that was the right call because Mother Nature had some plans of her own….which included rain. I have to say, despite the imperfect weather, the ceremony was beautiful and intimate. Thankfully, following the ceremony, the rain held off just long enough for a few portraits outside. Praise the Lord for that!
The reception was so amazing….Big Sky Country blew me away with their talent. Their music filled my heart with so much joy….truly. Seeing these two families blend into one was such a treat. The love in that room was palpable. Sara and Oliver, I can’t begin to express mt gratitude for choosing me to capture these special memories for you…I am so honored. As you begin this new journey and husband and wife, may you always remember to laugh loudly and love deeply. Congratulations!!!! Below are some of my favorites from the day… as always, leave a little love in the comment box below. Also, don’t forget to check out the link below to Sara and Oliver’s guestbook photobooth!! Enjoy and much love to all!
With Love,
Tiffany
