My family and I are really close–so when it was time to travel down South to Louisiana I couldn’t have been more excited! We were celebrating my nephew’s first birthday. I can’t believe he’s already a one year old! It felt like I was just there for his birthremember this sweet video? My sister has been preparing for his first birthday party for a very long timeyou would think she was planning his wedding! If you’re wondering, yes there was a theme Dr. Suess was the theme in honor of the birthday boy. You will see why we call my mom and sister Martha 1 and 2the details were unbelievable! Harper’s party will be part 2 to this entry. Anyway, before the party, Harper had cake for the very first timeand I got it all on camera. The level of cuteness is beyond anything I know.just wait til you see for yourself! BUT! Before we get into the pictures I can’t help but share one of the funniest stories I’ve witnessed in a long time. On the night of my arrival (the day before Harper’s birthday) me and my mom and sister were all lounging in the family room before bedyou know, catching up. My sister decided that she would open some of the gifts that were shipped to Harper for his birthday. You see, the plan was to have all his presents out and the house decorated for when he woke up. Anyway, there was one medium size box addressed to the birthday boy from Amazon.com. My sister was expecting a package from Amazon so all seemed normal.until we opened the package. With no note from the sender, the package included 6 items: 5 large storage containers for screws, nails and other small tool items and a Luggable Loo. Confused, we were all looking at the items wondering first, “who sent this?” and second, trying to figure out what the purpose of the items were. My sister initially thought, although rather large, maybe the containers would be good to hold snacks. Keep in mind, my nephew is turning one. Was this a gag gift? We had no ideaand certainly none of us heard of a Luggable Loo. After some investigation we learned that a Luggable Loo is just what the name says- a portable toilet. The lid snaps on to one of those large 5 gallon white buckets. Supposedly, if you’re out hunting or camping, it is a very practical thing to have. But, for a one year old? My sister thought, “Well, he will have to be potty trained soon maybe it will help with that? But, I haven’t seen it on any recommended product lists for parents.” We text messaged several family members and politely asked, “Did you send Harper a Luggable Loo and tool containers?” After all, we didn’t want to offend anyone if they did in fact send these items as their gift. All responded with a confused “No.” We thought for sure it was my Aunt Ellen-she has three teenage boys, so maybe she knew something we didnt! Nope. Wasn’t her either! We were all baffled and laughing so hard trying to figure out what all of these things were forafterall, the box was addressed to Harper Shelton! After 45 minutes my sister decided to call Amazon to at least figure out who the sender was so she could send a Thank You note. My sister kindly explained to the customer service rep that it was her son’s first birthday and he received a gift from an unknown person. A few minutes into the call my sister was roaring with laughter. Turns out there was a mix up and these products were supposed to be delivered to a woman in North Carolina! We were all in tears laughing thinking about how my sister almost potty trained her son with a Luggable Loo. Obviously we had to take a photo to document this(sorry it’s only a cell phone photo)..and yes, it’s tradition to wear matching pajamas when we all get together!
And now.the images you’ve all been waiting to see!
